What to Expect with Vinyasa Yoga
Considered one of the more difficult types of yoga, Vinyasa yoga entails a series of poses that flow from one into the next, giving very little time for recovery along the way. Due to the constant movement and holding of poses, it is often called power yoga.
Because the variety of poses are picked by instructors often at random, no two classes should ever be alike, differing from Bikram and Ashtanga yoga which repeat the same poses over the course of each class. The variety in vinyasa yoga, however, yields a body which is more balanced for its participants, because different muscle groups are worked in a different order each time.
The variety and temporary nature of the poses parallels the philosophy associated with Vinyasa, that things in life are fleeting, and we must just move onto the next thing as it comes as smoothly as possible.
